Moruya Counselling for children, teens and adolescents

With trauma informed practice, grief informed practice that is evidence based and you design your therapy goals

You may chose counselling for things that may be bothering you now. In a safe and non-judgmental space where you can off load what you may not want to share with family and friends.  Together we build a tool box of techniques to calm the emotions and nervous system so life is less stressful.

Or you may prefer psychotherapy. With evidence based psychological therapy  we delve a little deeper for healing  what might be  behind any symptoms such as; depression, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, low moods, irritability,  isolating yourself, sleep issues or struggling to maintain healthy relationships.

Psychotherapy that is based in nature calms the nervous system to be more receptive to therapies such as; Narrative Therapy, CBT, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, meditation and Schema Therapy. In addition to EMDR therapy which is one of the most well researched psychological trauma treatment for depression, anxiety,  emotional wounds,  PTSD,  flashbacks, or panic attacks. For children there is Play Therapy and sand tray therapy.

People say they wish they had come years ago instead of suffering in silence; life is now better than ever. They are pleasantly surprised that they didn't have to go into the details of past distressing events that they have tried hard to forget.

Children's play therapy

Kids love spending time on the farm.

We offer evidence based play therapy.  Some children like playing in the counselling room and others enjoy being in nature with the option of connecting with  the farm animals.

A child's brain doesn't reach maturity until  around 25 years of age therefore it is important for therapies to not be reliant on speech. Play therapy facilitates communication especially when nature based (Flynn;2022)

Parents/carers are a valuable part of the therapy team and included in the sessions.

farm animals

Teens & adolescents

Young people feel relaxed and safe with counselling on the farm. Either in the counselling room or down by the creek.

Parents/carers have an opportunity to relax with a cuppa in the living room that overlooks the farm as they breathe in the serene views with a magnificent mountains backdrop.
